how do you suggest I change my lifts as state is approaching? right now I'm doing 5 sets of 8 reps for most of my lifts (power and Olympic). I was planning on doing less reps every week so by the time the week of state comes around I'm doing 3 sets of 3. What do you think about this plan?

Kudos to you for being willing to ask questions.

Your plan is not similar to the one that I am suggesting other than a pyramid for the reps/sets. Note that I only recomend 3 reps or less for olympic lifts and that we are well under 40 reps (5x8) per lift at this point in the season. Basically, I think you could be more time efficient and strength specific to the throws with something like a heavy 5x4 on power lifts and 5x2 on olympic lifts at this point in the season.
